Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read

DIIGO

I have just started using a great social bookmarking tool called Diigo.  Diigo allows you to bookmark your favorite web sites and store them online.  The best part is that you can make notes right on the web sites and Diigo saves everything for you on your online account.  Diigo does have special accounts for educators so you could use it for your classes.

Animoto is a greta site to use for making videos.  Students can use this tool to advertise and share what books they have read by creating short videos for them.  It is also a great opportunity to show students the images shared on creative commons on Flickr.  Here people share their images and students can clearly see how people are willing to share their photos.  Below is a video I made to advertise two books.  I used the images from Creative Commons and the music came directly from Animoto's site.

Below is a widget for my LibraryThing.  LibraryThing allows you to create an online library of books and tag the books with any tag you feel relevant to the book.  Students would be able to have an online account of the books they read.  They would be able to search the tags of others to find more books they enjoy.  As a class, students could all use the same tag for their books so others in the class could search that tag and see what others in the class are reading.  Students can also write reviews to let others know what they thought of the book.  LibrayThing puts readers in control of their books and how they wish to organize them.  Its free and easy to use.  Students and classes will find many reasons to include LibraryThing in their online world.
